As a young person, I never had a thought of being a miracle worker and I would say most people that get into A Course in Miracles when asked as a child, what do you want to be when you grow up? Do not say,  Oh I want to be a miracle worker!  I do not think I have met one A Course in Miracles student yet who knew this as a young child.  It is very, very rare. Yet when we open up to it and we open up to being used by the Holy Spirit, then we open ourselves more and more to being available to be used by Him. Then it is like a quickening that occurs. You get more into an accelerated path of the healing.  And open to accepting that healing that has already happened.

When we make no exceptions and work consistently with A Course in Miracles, then we begin to see the miracle is always available for us.  We learn to choose the miracle consistently  and then our perception lightens up, really lightens up and gets very bright and then finally disappears. And you get to see how deep this goes. But we have to get all the way back to releasing everything about linear time and all aspects of linear time to awaken from the dream. So it is not about a personal healing or even about our personal life going smoothly.  

There is even a part in the Teachers manual in A Course in Miracles where Jesus talks about three levels of teaching and the third one is a lifelong teaching/learning partnership. He says "they may be hostile to each other perhaps for life," which guns down any sense of soul mate thing. Oh that is great I have a lifelong learning partner that is going to help me forgive the ego and they may be hostile, perhaps for life.  Oh thank you very much Jesus, that is very enticing.  I can't wait to get into my lifelong hostile teaching/learning relationship. What it is though is the ego is deep and if he is giving a metaphor of a lifelong partnership, he says and should they decide to learn, it is the perfect lesson for them and can be learned. It is very optimistic and hopeful but he is not trying to paint it like the soulmate sites do. He is saying this could be intense and perhaps for life and that is how deep the ego runs.  And I think certainly Bill and Helen, the scribe and the collaborator of A Course in Miracles; nobody could say  that they had an easy ride of it.  It was very very disjunctive. Particularly for Helen but I think for Bill too.

You might say that relationships are designed so that specialness, as described in A Course in Miracles, will come up into awareness and then you have another opportunity to make another choice. You have an opportunity to deal with it when it comes up. But you can’t really avoid it. Um, it has been pushed out of awareness already so it has been avoided already. So if you trying to avoid what you have already avoided, you know that’s not going to help…anything. So we’re all about encouraging it actually, encouraging it to come up and with the mind training you start to notice it more. You know you can notice it. And then as you are noticing it, there usually is a sense of ‘Oh golly…I can’t believe I am still so attracted to that. You know again it’s in my face. Again I see it, oh I thought I had seen the last of that. But here it is again and again.’ Not to discourage yourself. Not to fall into depression with it but to see the pattern for what it is and really get beneath the pattern. You know you’re really wanting it to come up. So that is why it seems to get acted out.

And as you are identified with the body, then you believe you’ve done wrong or you’ve lost your way for the hundredth time or whatever.  And the Spirit is like going ‘No no no!  Don’t go that way, don’t go down that road and start concluding. Just look at the pattern, just look at the thoughts and see what they’re connected to in terms of this ego believe system’. And little by little through miracles and contrast experiences we are shown that don’t really want those egoic patterns. That is just unworthiness acting out again and again and again. After a while you do start to see it without biting the hook, you know without going for it. And there is a sense of empowerment when you can just notice it at first and watch it and watch it. And then you are less hooked into it, you are less emotionally invested in it. Then eventually those hooks and those thoughts and beliefs they just fade from awareness and they are gone. You are no longer haunted by them. They cannot even enter. Your mind gets so riveted on the truth… they cannot even enter. And you experience the inner peace described in A Course in Miracles.

Q: When one cleans up the film, the projector only projects light… Correct? In that scenario, it would seem that form ceases to exist. According to what I am reading, the perception of form, any form at all, is an illusion, a dreamlike state that is not real. What happens to form during this cleaning up process? Does the world become more and more beautiful, or less positively/negatively charged, or what? I understand the shift from hearing another person’s attack to hearing a cry for love. It’s becoming a bit easier for me to hear that cry for love. Is this whole healing process a progression toward being in a pure energy state? Thanks

David: Your intuitive discernment are right on. Your desire for Truth is drawing It forth in awareness.

The six stages in the Development of Trust section of the ACIM Manual for Teachers are a good description of what seems to occur during the “cleaning up process.” The perception of form seems to undergo changes in consciousness as the illusory “process” is experienced in awareness. This process may be described as the relinquishment of judgment, and the world indeed seems to become more and more beautiful as it is viewed without judgment.

As you discern in your question, the relinquishment of judgment is the release of the entire spectrum of judgment (the positive through the negative). Complete forgiveness (the Atonement) is a State of mind which reflects Abstract Divine Mind. Divine Mind, Mind Awake, is the One Pure Energy State that is Reality. The forgiven world reflects Eternity for a moment and then disappears. This is the meaning of “God will take the final step.”

God is Eternal and creates the Eternal. God’s Creation has no beginning or end or steps or levels, Being Pure Oneness. Forgiveness, the last illusion, represents a consciousness so cleared of judgment that it is ready to behold the Truth of Divine Love. Judgment is not an ability which God creates, for Christ remains forever as Pure Oneness in God. It is not that one “ceases” judging, as if judgment had really happened before but has now stopped. Forgiveness sees illusions as one and therefore shows that judgment is forever IMPOSSIBLE since there is nothing to judge “between.”

Forgiveness is a Perspective of Meaning, for the Perspective is that of the Holy Spirit. As you share this Perspective, you share the Meaning of the Holy Spirit—the reminder that “I am as God created Me.” The world beheld in this Perspective is indeed beautiful, for in God’s Peace it is apparent “All things work together for good.” In this Perspective time is simultaneous and there are no separate images and events. It is happily impossible to sequence or arrange or order or judge that which is one. This momentary Perspective is the Peace that passeth the understanding of the world.

Glory and joy to the mind emptied of concepts. Love cannot be described or explained—only Experienced. Yield to the Experience. There is nothing else.

One of the things I opened up with today is the nondual idea from A Course in Miracles, that people aren't really people, they're just thoughts. If you think about all the struggle and pain and misery in human relationships it's because of the belief that you're a person and that there are other people and they don't go together very well on this planet, or any planet for that matter, any reality, even in science fiction! The Klingons never get on with the Romulans and they never get along with the Borg, you know, even when we're off into Star Trek, in other realms, the beings are not getting along. Even George Lucas; Star Wars, it wasn't star harmony it was Star Wars and the 'dark side' and Darth Vader. It wouldn't make much of a story or a drama if it was - la la la la la la la (singing) la la la la la la live for today, hey! La la la la la la la live for today and don't worry about tomorrow anyway.

That makes for a beautiful song and a beautiful movie if that's what you want and, if you want drama and conflict, there's wars and all kinds of interpersonal conflicts. Jesus says in A Course in Miracles,  the world is very tired - this tiny mad idea has been playing out over and over, like in Groundhog Day, it just loops and loops. You just get bored with it, you get tired with it, you try to find distractions but they only work for a while and then they don't even work. You can't even distract yourself very well because after a while it's tiring.

I'm going to start off our voyage tonight with that clip from Solaris and it's called 'partial memories'. This is the scene where Red is speaking and the George Clooney character is just beginning to discover that what he thinks of as his wife, who committed suicide, who's coming back into his awareness, she's really there with him now. Somehow she killed herself and now she's back there around Solaris. But she's going to be teaching that she's not a whole person; she's just a reflection or a projection of his memories, of what he thought of her. This is one of the reasons why reincarnation will never work, because any time we're trying to find reality or any kind of sense of meaning in linearity, we're looking for meaning where it can't be found.

Linear time was invented by the ego so that you would never know meaning; it's actually what Jesus calls in A Course in Miracles, an impossible situation. So what happens when you try to order an impossible situation, even with a reincarnation perspective to try to make some meaning out of the whole thing, is; you're trying to bring meaning to the impossible. And the whole teaching of forgiveness in A Course in Miracles  is you come to see the impossible as impossible, no longer keep trying to find meaning in the impossible, which is very frustrating.
